Geoff John’s work on GREEN LANTERN has been one of the brightest shining points of DC Comics for the better part of the last decade. He took a character, who at the time, lacked the substance and depth of other DC icons, and then built an entire mythology around him… and in the process, made the DC Universe as a whole a much more interesting place.
No one can deny the importance, and quality of stories like BLACKEST NIGHT, SINESTRO CORPS WAR, and BRIGHTEST DAY, and now, Johns’s run is nearing it’s conclusion, and I gotta say: we’re sad to see him go — but we know it’s the right time.
We’ve seen a little bit of what DC has on the horizon for GL, and it looks incredible. Johns is setting everything up perfectly for the creators who intend to follow him, and this week’s huge finale to Johns’s Green Lantern run is a great chance to pick up on one of the best damn parts of the DC Universe, for nearly 10 years strong.
Never read the earlier Johns stuff? We’d recommend picking up GREEN LANTERN REBIRTH, and starting there. From there, the run begins, and the entire thing is choice stuff.
Whatever you do, make sure you don’t miss out on this oversized anniversary issue that closes out Johns’s run.
